The Diabetes Club

The Diabetes Club

The Diabetes Club at Ibdaa Center was established as a community initiative to support people living with diabetes in Dheisheh Refugee Camp and the surrounding areas through health awareness, psychological and social support, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles.

The club included around 80 women and served as a supportive space for communication, sharing experiences, and participating in health and social activities. The club organized various awareness sessions and workshops on diabetes management, prevention of complications, healthy nutrition, the importance of physical activity, and methods for monitoring blood sugar levels. It also conducted social and recreational activities that strengthened communication, solidarity, and mutual support among members.

The club contributed to increasing health awareness, empowering women, and enhancing their role within the community. However, its activities were suspended after the Israeli occupation closed Ibdaa Center in February 2025, which led to the interruption of meetings and programs. Nevertheless, the club’s experience remains an important part of Ibdaa Center’s legacy in community health and social work.
