IBDA’A Sports Club

IBDA’A Sports Club

IBDA’A Sports Club represented one of the important milestones in the history of the IBDA’A Association for the Development of Children’s Capacities and International Cultural Exchange. It was established based on the Association’s vision of the importance of sport as an educational and social tool that contributes to developing the capacities of children and youth, and strengthening the values of cooperation, discipline, and teamwork.

Since its launch, the club has worked to provide a comprehensive sporting environment for the children of Dheisheh Camp and the local community, through the establishment and development of a number of sports teams in both team and individual sports, giving children and youth the opportunity to discover their talents, hone their skills, and take part in local competitions.

The club brought together a group of sports teams that achieved a distinguished presence on the local sports scene, most notably the men’s basketball team, the women’s volleyball team, the table tennis team, and the chess team. These teams took part in numerous tournaments and sporting events, and succeeded in achieving outstanding results, winning a number of titles and top rankings, which reinforced IBDA’A Club’s standing as one of the community clubs that played an important role in supporting sport and developing young talent.

The men’s basketball team contributed to building a generation of young players through participation in local tournaments and the development of players’ technical and physical level, while the women’s volleyball team represented an important experience in strengthening girls’ participation in the field of sport and creating a supportive space for women’s sport. The table tennis team and the chess team likewise played a role in developing children’s and youth’s focus and strategic thinking skills, alongside competing and achieving results in various events.

IBDA’A Sports Club was not merely a space for practicing sport, but a community project aimed at building character and strengthening self-confidence and a sense of belonging, combining athletic training with education in positive values, and opening the way for participants to acquire life skills that extend beyond the boundaries of the playing field.

Although the club’s activity later came to a halt, its experience remained an essential part of the archive and memory of the IBDA’A CENTER, leaving a clear mark on generations of children and youth who found in it a space for learning, competition, development, and achievement.
