Youth activities at the IBDA’A CENTER are considered one of the core spaces that reflect the Association’s belief in the pivotal role of young people in building society and strengthening community and cultural participation. Since their launch, youth activities have formed a space that brought together young men and women from Dheisheh Camp, with the aim of developing their capacities, strengthening their spirit of initiative, and instilling a culture of volunteer and community work.
This program came as part of the IBDA’A CENTER vision, which regards young people as essential partners in the development process, not merely beneficiaries of its programs. It worked to provide a supportive environment that helps young people express their ideas, develop their skills, and actively participate in activities and initiatives that serve their community.
The youth activities focused on building young people’s capacities through a diverse range of cultural, social, volunteer, and training programs, aimed at strengthening leadership skills, teamwork, communication, organization, and creative thinking. The program also provided young people with the opportunity to take part in community and cultural events, and to contribute to organizing and implementing initiatives that reflect the needs and aspirations of the camp’s residents.
The youth program helped create a space for young men and women to meet and interact, strengthening the spirit of cooperation and belonging, in addition to encouraging volunteer work as a means of participation and social responsibility. It also played an important role in connecting young people with the IBDA’A CENTER various programs, and in their participation in its cultural, artistic, sporting, and community activities.
Over the years of its work, the youth activities program embraced a great deal of young talent and energy, helping participants gain practical experiences and skills that contributed to developing their characters and strengthening their ability to take initiative and work within a team. It also formed a platform for young people to take part in community dialogue, express their concerns, and contribute to shaping the future of their community.
Youth activities at the IBDA’A CENTER represent an important part of the center’s institutional memory, and reflect its philosophy of investing in people — particularly young people — as a fundamental force in preserving cultural identity, strengthening community work, and creating positive change.
